Escalators and Security

Have you ever considered an escalator being part of a security system? Or, an escalator being used as a security scanner in airports? No? Well, this idea may become a reality sooner than you imagine.

I’m sure you’re aware at how chaotic airports can be. Especially during the security check progress. Almost everyone flies, thus making inventors Ashish Thulkar and Charles Bombardier come up with a solution that will guide passengers through the process quickly and easier. They created the “Aerochk”. The Aerochk is a security scanning system that is mounted on an escalator. The Aerochk checks people, passports and carry-ons all at once to make the check in process a lot faster.

The system would be set up to allow riders to travel next to their passports and luggage which are located on a separate conveyor. All conveyors would run at the same speed and reach the top at the same time, all ready to board.

As seen here, escalators can have a lot more uses than just bringing passengers up and down floors. Who knows? Maybe security elevators will soon become a reality.
